THEarticle which I found part of this statement “Shoppers have a new compass to help them navigate the American retail jungle — their phone”.

The large American retailers are developing mobile applications for Indoor Navigation with the aim of increasing sales by streamlining the customer shopping experience in their stores. Both Walmart and HomeDepot help customers through their Apps to search for products and their location in stores. The first data collected from the use of the Apps shows that the 15% some pageviews come from users who navigate in the store and who for this very reason represent potential users of advanced information and interaction functions in the store.

The analysis, among other things, starts from an interesting reasoning, very Italian, relating to the reluctance of retailers to communicate data deemed relevant in relation to products and purchasing behaviour. And in this case it seems that old habits have been abandoned in favor of the potential offered by mobile apps, such as the possibility of offering advanced tools for the shopper experience: electronic coupons, barcode scanners, store details, etc…

In IDEOLO we have already worked on the theme and in ShopApp we have integrated many features for these purposes with the idea of improving the in-store shopper experience by increasing the interaction between retailer and customer.
