It is a free thought fueled by a strange bad smell that I feel in the "air" that surrounds us. Landing from a vacation in the US I have heard nothing but negativity. 10 days in Venice then convinced me that there are social strata that need to be cleaned and swept away. Three pages of the Corriere delle Sera and one of the sun gave me the coup de grace. The paradox of all this public information is that the further you get away from it, the better you feel and find the energy and clarity to achieve your goals. And just as I was looking at the beauty of the sea of Venice kissing the sky, I thought about what could save a planet as beautiful as ours. And it won't be reason, not even some revolution or the enlightened wisdom that even APPLE has printed on its posters today that will be able to solve hundreds of years of chaos.
“If there were Klingons” we would look at everything differently. All eyes would be turned to the sky and our borders would no longer be those. Our conflicts would collapse and the dimensions of our fears would take on new horizons. That would change everything very quickly. I am convinced that even love and hate would revolutionize themselves. How I wish this would happen and that everything would find a new dimension. A sort of cleaning that can magically and sadly leave a new planet to new men, women and animals. I do not wish a cosmic conflict because I could not even define the consequences. I like to dream of some sort of earthly brotherhood. Something superior to everything and everyone that at the same time can meritocratically sweep away the social chaos by cleaning it up. Something must happen. We are burning everything too quickly, from the material to the immaterial, leaving no way out for the values, love and future of our children and of this planet. The will of a few seems not to be enough and the few who go against the tide take risks, sweat and are constantly hindered. “If there were Klingons” is a kind of metaphor. “If there was a solution” to all of this I would like it to come quickly to allow me to see a different world.
