Keep It Simple, Stupid

It is something very banal but never taken for granted. I find myself increasingly involved in projects with great ambitions and complex operational plans, almost as if to imply that one must go hand in hand with the other.

But even if it were, today we must consider the reality of the facts. The world is always faster as well as information and consequently the transformations. And in a system where everything has short life spans, there's no more room for complex plans that take time, too much time!

We learned this with lean marketing. A wave of courses, experts and role models had come upon us, convincing us that everything had to go in a new direction. And they are right. But their models are complex and not for everyone. So here I am with the KISS method.

There is no board in this case but only a list of suggestions to consider when starting and setting up a project. But it's good to know that making things simple is a gift and it's not trivial. Leonardo Da Vinci also said it "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" to mean that things don't always start already clear and lucid in their simplicity, often they only become so later.

Back to us. The KISS method starts from a simple concept: develop your thinking starting from the simplest but essential aspects to put it into practice. Once put into practice, check that it works and that it achieves the goals you set for yourself and only then evolve it.

So in Marketing, I prefer to test ideas or theories starting from simple and imperfect models. Only after I'm sure that these work, I invest more energy to make them perfect. And this working method makes me faster than the others!

Now it's your turn!
