Sapient, The birth of Artificial Intelligence
It is a pure science-fiction novel. I tell of a not so distant future where the Internet has been abandoned and Web3 has been a failure.
Social Networks no longer exist and a new network of Artificial Intelligences named SAPIENT has replaced the web. In their new daily life, people use a device called Pearl connected to their own Artificial Intelligence, a personal auxiliary intelligence, connected to their consciences.
And as in all stories, something goes wrong and a conspiracy of dangerous people and Artificial Intelligences wants to change the new order of things and take control of the new network.
I dedicate this work of mine to the 50 years of crazy and fantastic innovations that I was lucky enough to experience in the hope that one would arrive that would allow me to travel in space like Kirk and Spock "Space, the final frontier. Here are the journeys of the starship Enterprise on her five-year mission to explore strange new worlds in search of other life and civilizations, going where no man has gone before."
In the not too distant future, the digital landscape is radically transformed. The Internet, as we know it, is a thing of the past. Web3, a failed ambition. Social Networks, a closed chapter in the history of humanity.
Emerging from the ashes of this obsolete digital world, rises 'SAPIENT' – a revolutionary network that has rewritten the rules of the game. At the center of this new digital age, the 'Pearl', an extraordinary device that connects directly to human consciousness through personal artificial intelligence, acting as an extension of the mind and custodian of personal data.
In this bold landscape, a Professor, his Son, a Hacker Lab, and legendary figures such as Larry, Sergei, Elon, Richard, Zuck, Bill, along with a global entity known as WWB, come together to develop Sapient. This decentralized web network is the embodiment of a new vision, where artificial intelligence assists humans in daily life and protects personal data.
But in the shadows, a conspiracy moves silently. An assembly of humans and artificial intelligences plots to overthrow this new order, aiming to gain control of the network. A struggle for power breaks out, a duel of wits and strategy, a global chess game where every move can be fatal.
'Sapient' is not just a window into the future; it is a journey through the most surprising innovations awaiting humanity - from new smartphones to flying cars, up to new generation particle screens. At the center of it all, the 'Pearl', symbol of an era in which our data is safe within an AI connected to our most intimate essence.
This sci-fi narrative, infused with real and contemporary elements, transports us to an imminent future, a world on the brink of revolutionary discoveries that promise to redefine our existence.
In 'Sapient', the protagonists venture through the lights and shadows of emerging technology, innovation and impending socioeconomic changes. This odyssey is punctuated by bold predictions, where the protagonists face an enemy born from humanity's deepest fears and the corruption of the very artificial intelligences that were created to serve it, an enemy thirsty for power and domination.
The ending will be the beginning of a new and unexpected adventure.

For me, Sapient is innovation, but above all reflection: a story in which man shares his doubts and fears with his artificial intelligence, in search of help that allows him to preserve his individuality. What struck me most, however, is the collaboration between mind and machine, showing how even the latter, in union with our conscience, is not always infallible.
In the first version, Luca's story was like a thick book that had been sitting in the attic for too long: dust had accumulated on the surface, but I could still feel the solidity of the story. I knew he was hiding something precious under all those layers.
Thus began our collaboration: we dusted, cleaned and perfected the story, until we brought out the true soul of Sapient, Luca and Max, the protagonists of the story.

In an act of visionary audacity, I conceived 'Sapient', imagining a radical renewal of the Internet, a digital universe now distorted and plagued by scourges of various kinds, from insidious fake news to omnipresent mass surveillance.
With 'Sapient,' I channeled my hope for a future in which a deep understanding of the dangers could allow humanity to stem the advance of pervasive surveillance, in an age where half the global population is caught in its web (quoting Tim Berners Lee).
'Sapient' is not just an artificial intelligence; he is the custodian and architect of this new network. Its structure is a symphony of decentralization, an evolution of the Blockchain that I have named 'LightChain', imagining an ethereal and efficient data structure.
This new digital age sees individuals in perpetual symbiosis with 'Sapient', through personal artificial intelligences that merge with their consciences through a revolutionary device I have named 'Pearl'. Together, 'Pearl' and 'Sapient' are not just the beating heart of the Internet; they are the breath of a new digital dimension.
The story is based on many characters who inspired the story. Many are fictional but the main ones are real because I wanted to make the story believable and real.
A professor. Son of him. A Hacker Lab with three characters inspired by my life: Nath, Andrey and Stig. The famous characters are Larry, Sergej, Elon, Richard, Zuck, Bill and finally a worldwide organization called WWB which works together with Google on the development of Sapient.
There are also figures connected to my life and work, friends I grew up with. However, it remains a fictional story and the facts, although in part recalling real events, do not intend to harm any thought but only to inspire one of the many futures that we will have before us.
