We are close to the fortieth anniversary of themoon landing. And already appearing articles, thoughts and extravagant thoughts of what still today for me represents one of the most deserving "gestures" of man reaching "where no man has ever gone before"!

And here I am ready to tell you about clouds like giant screens. In the midst of so many discussions and thoughts, my attention falls inexorably in front of a very curious phrase that I could not let escape: “Jules Verne hypothesized the use of clouds as giant screens…”.

Way back in 1889 Jules Verne had imagined advertising clouds. In a story that reported in the original version the title "In the Year 2889" which appeared signed by Jules Verne on the February 1889 issue of the monthly "The Forum" - published in New York - among many fantastic things there is also this curious image that I don't remember seeing in any science fiction film, where clouds in the sky lend themselves to becoming advertising screens. Not even on youtube I could find an example or an inspiration. But around google, in a historical archive of Corriere della Sera dating back to 1993 I found a nice article where it is told of a failed project to create "stellar" forms of advertising.

The curious thing is that after so many years no one has yet crossed this threshold and imagined digital banners a few hundred meters long suspended in the air. Will it be an investment problem? of technology? or we think they can only represent a good exercise and nothing else. In a period poor in investments, courage and long-term visions, I would have expected, browsing around, to find something more than an airplane dragging aerial writings, hot air balloons and the like. Why later Batman I haven't seen anyone advertise themselves in the air yet!
